In every neighborhood I like, there is a café. Not necessarily a fancy third-wave coffee place or one that serves experimental natural wine, but simply a café with lowercase “c.” Probably you are as familiar with the playlist of the café as you are with the menu and the staff, so you know when The Girl From Ipanema is playing and who is working when. You know that Thursdays are better for working there. It is where they will return the pacifier your son lost on your last visit, nicely wrapped in tissue and accompanied by a small homemade cookie from the owner’s mother. This place has a good but not an outstanding rating on Google Maps, and when you sit at the bar, you’ll see the neighbors passing by, some of them dropping in for the usual coffee for their morning commute and dog-walking, and alone from the movement you can spot the tourists. This is also an internet dream.
